Introduction To Integrity

We often think of integrity as simply “doing the right thing when no one is watching.” But that’s only scratching the surface. What if I told you that integrity isn’t just about your behavior—it’s about your wholeness?

The root word of “integrity” is the Latin word integer, meaning whole, undivided, complete. That means to live with integrity is to live an integrated life — one where your faith is fully woven into every part of who you are.

Let’s make this real:
There are a lot of sincere Christians who love Jesus, attend church, serve occasionally, and listen to worship music — but their faith isn’t integrated.

It’s compartmentalized.

Sunday is spiritual. Wednesday night maybe. But the rest of the week? Their decisions, relationships, finances, and online habits don’t always reflect the faith they profess.

The Babylon Test

In Daniel 1, we meet a teenager ripped from his homeland and placed into the heart of Babylon — a culture obsessed with power, image, and compromise. But Daniel stood out. Why?

Because his faith wasn’t just in Jerusalem.
It followed him to Babylon.
His values weren’t seasonal or situational — they were integrated into his identity.

He didn’t ask, “Who’s watching me?”
He lived as if God always was.

That’s integrity.

The Danger of Operational Atheism

You can believe in God and still live as if He doesn’t see or matter in your daily decisions. That’s called operational atheism — acting like God doesn’t exist when it’s inconvenient.

Ever caught yourself thinking:

“No one will know I clicked that.”
“I’m just on vacation — God will understand.”
“I’m tired. I’ll get back to prayer when things settle.”

In those moments, we’re not living integrated lives. We’re living divided ones.

So, What Does an Integrated Faith Look Like?

It means:

  • You don’t just attend church — you become the Church.
  • You don’t just talk about God — you walk with Him in the everyday.
  • Your values don’t vanish on vacation.
  • Your boundaries don’t disappear when you’re tired or outnumbered.
  • You make pre-decisions in secret, so you can stand with strength in public.

A Personal Challenge To Integrity

Ask yourself:

Is my faith fully integrated into my day-to-day life?
Or have I kept Jesus in the “spiritual” box while making room for compromise in others?

Let’s be honest — Babylon is still around. It just looks like screens, social pressure, and endless compromise.

But here’s the good news: You don’t have to be shaped by Babylon. You can stand strong like Daniel — with an integrated faith that God will honor.
